2 Months!

Little Miss Makenzie is two months old today! She is the happiest little baby and is just so easy going. We love her so very much and are so thankful for her. We love to hug and squeeze her and as Morgan says "make ham and cheese sandwiches." Morgan says that Makenzie is the ham, she is the cheese, and mommy and daddy are the bread. Family hugs are the best! I can hardly believe that my days of snuggling this little one all day are almost over, in just two short weeks I have to start back to work. Thankfully I will be working only 0.6 FTE, so I will be done work every day except Thursday by 11:15. It is also not as hard to leave her knowing that I will be leaving her with her grandma and grandpa each day. I know they will have no trouble at all filling in with the hugs and squeezes.

Some highlights of being 2 months:
* Makenzie is smiling up a storm! She is always very happy on her changing table (probably because she is getting a clean diaper on and LOVES to be naked). She smiles and starts cooing a bunch every time.
*Makenzie loves bath time! She just lays back in her bath seat and chills. Big sis, Morgan, is looking forward to the days when they can splash and play together.
*We went for our first road trip as a family. We spent the 4th of July in Phoenix visiting family.
*We survived our first official outing with just us three girls! We went to visit Morgan's old preschool teachers and then to our local Wal.greens.

Makenzie's 2 month stats:
Weight: 10 pounds 12 ounces (52%)
Height: 22.8 inches (71%)
Head Circumference: 39 cm (60%)
Eating: Breastmilk
Sleeping: Great! Sleeps from about 7:30 until 1:00 or 1:30. Then wakes again around 4 or 4:30. She wakes for the day usually around 7:30 or 8. We are still working on our daytime sleep schedule, but as long as she is good at night I am good too.

Makenzie did great at her 2 month check up. As soon as the doctor came in to check her out she gave him a huge smile. He said, "well, she just past the 2 month check." She checked out well in all areas, except her neck and head. We had been concerned since her birth about her neck. David had noticed almost right away that she preferred to look to the left and to tilt her head to the right (exactly the opposite of Morgan). We were concerned that like her big sis, Makenzie might have torticolis. At her first appointment we asked the doctor about it. He said it looked like a possibility and that we would monitor it. After examining her again this month he does think she has a bit of torticolis, especially since she is developing a bald/flat spot on her head and it is not just right in the back, it is slightly off to one side. He has put in a referral for her to be evaluated by a PT at TM.C to see if she will need physical therapy. In the meantime we are doing every thing we can to help her neck improve and to hopefully avoid any developmental delays and having to wear a helmet. Thanks to her big sis having torticolis we already know many things we can be doing to help her: TONS of tummy time, holding her on our shoulder so she has to look right, rocking her on the left to stretch her neck from the right, putting toys and things on her right, etc.... She really is doing well and I think her torticolis is a mild case and most likely just positional. We are hoping that we will receive an eval quickly. Other than that though she checked out perfect! She did receive her first round of immunizations and handled them like a champ. I must admit that this time around it was very different for me as a mom. I remember with Morgan being so scared to see her cry and always stressing over having to hold Morgan down. This time I was like this is no big deal. In perspective to all the things that Morgan has had to go through and all the things I as a mom have had to hold her down for, this was a piece of cake. Thankfully Makenzie thought so too. Don't get me wrong, she did cry, but she did amazing. After about 5 seconds of the crying after the final shot she stopped. The nurse turned to me and "That's it? She's done already!"

Some random pics from being 2 months old!:
Sitting at the table for dinner with the family.

She loves being big stuff and being at the table.

Packing for 2 kids for 2 nights in PHX.

My girls enjoying some play time together.

Smiling on the changing table!

I love this sweet girl!

Enjoying a bed time story with big sis! It won't be long before she will really be reading to her little sis. Last week Morgan read 4 of the Meet the Sight words 1 books by herself!!! We are so proud of her.

Lovin' the headbands on my little bald girl!

Going for a ride with big sis on Skittles.
