Happy Birthday Miss Morgan!

So I started this post on the 10th and am just now getting around to wrapping it up with pictures:

Today my little girl turned 6. (sniff, sniff). I can't believe she is getting so big. It seems like just yesterday that Morgan turned 5 and now here we are celebrating another birthday. This year has been so busy and so full of joy that it has just flown by. We are just so very proud of the wonderful little girl Morgan is becoming. She is such a hard worker and is doing so well in school. And despite all she has to go through every day she still wakes up each morning with the biggest shriek followed by a shout of joy that "It's TO-Day!"

Here are a few highlights of Morgan's 5th year:
1. Morgan celebrated turning 5 with her 'own pony' for the day!
2. Four days after turning 5 Morgan became a big sister. She is the most amazing sister (99% of the time, she does have her moments when she decides to take her little sister out with her walker). She has taught her baby sis so many things this year, most importantly how to blow kisses (which Kenzie gives her big sis constantly).
3. Morgan started kindergarten and now gets to come to school with me each day! We are just so proud of how well Morgan has done in school. She has worked so hard and is keeping up academically in all areas. She has met or exceeded on all standards so far this year!
4. Got botox! Yes, you read that right, but not for the same reason most women choose to have it done. We tried out using botox on Morgan's inner thigh muscles to help them 'relax' and prevent her legs from scissoring when she walks. While this helped in some aspects it hindered in others. The botox wore off after about 5 months and we haven't gone back for more.
5. Morgan lost her first tooth!
6. Slept through the night!!!!! Morgan got a new pair of KAFO's, this time with 'magic' socks. The socks are interlaced with silver and have electrodes attached that provide electrical stimulation throughout the night to allow for better blood flow. This has helped to keep Morgan's legs from spasming during the night thus allowing her to finally after 5 years have occasional nights of sleeping through the night.
7. Met her newest cousin, Sawyer, for the first time.
8. Attended her first musical, Wicked!
9. Celebrated the retirement of her horse Monty after two years and nine months of riding with him.
10. Has a 2nd big girl tooth coming in and another wiggly baby tooth.

Here are some pictures from Morgan's birthday:

We always start the day waking up to a birthday sign and balloons in her room.
Morgan wanted to find her present right away....well she did, she WOKE UP in it!

A few months ago Morgan told me while driving one day "Mommy, I wish I had horses on my bed."
"What?" I asked not understanding what she meant by horses on her bed.
"You know, like I have flowers on my bed now, but I want horses."
"Oh, you mean you want horse bedding and sheets?"
"Yes."

Luckily like a week later I noticed in the Targe.t ads they had this adorable horse bedding and it was on sale! Even better the bedding was the exact colors of her room (which was my biggest worry about getting new stuff). We wouldn't have to paint, change curtains, etc...

Morgan also received another special gift on her bed that morning. More recently as we have been preparing for Morgan's dolphin party she has been mentioning wanting a dolphin to sleep with at night. Well, we found a stuffed animal Winter complete with a removable tail! Boy was she excited about that.
Getting ready for a quick birthday breakfast before school (we usually eat in the car on the way).

Birthday candles in her pancakes.
This year Morgan's birthday fell on a Friday and was the same day as our school's big community fair. Since there wouldn't be time that night for dinner and cake as a family we decided to do candles with her pancakes in the morning instead.

The birthday party:

On Saturday we hosted Morgan's birthday party. She invited four friends from school, one being her teacher's daughter who is a year older. Morgan and her play together almost every morning in her classroom before school. She was super excited that her teacher was coming to her party too! The kids had a great time and you could tell all of them really knew Morgan well. Every present she opened was something horse related.

Here are a few pictures from the party:
Our six year old!

All five kids riding on 'Skittles'. I was so nervous the ceiling was going to come down.

Love this idea I stole from Pintrest. My amazing husband recreated it for me.

The beautiful cake Morgan's Grandma and Grandpa bought for the party.

Opening presents with all her friends help.
Immediately following that party we had a nice little family party with Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Brad, Nanny, Pa, Aunt Georgia, Uncle Matt, Lucas, and Macie. The kids had a great time playing together outside and Morgan enjoyed even more cake. It was so nice having so many people throughout the day help celebrate our amazing six year old!
