The Spies Family: Fancy Morgan Turns 3!

So a few years ago I swore up and down I would not become one of "those moms." You know, the ones who throw totally over the top birthday parties with themes. Well.... I became one of "those moms." How could I resist, Morgan deserves the very best and this year she totally understood that it was her birthday. She finally gets presents, parties, cake, etc... She was so excited about having a party, so I became "that mom" that plans an over the top party. But I have to say, I did it for a good reason. If we threw a typical party where kids just come and play and run all over the place Morgan would be lost in the crowd and since it was her day we wanted it to be all about her. The best way to do that was to keep it VERY organized and structured so she could actually be with the other kids without them running from one thing to the next. We also decided to keep it small so she could keep up (We really had a hard time with this; we wanted all of you there). So anyway, we decided that since Morgan loves dressing up so much and Fancy Nancy that we would have a Fancy Nancy themed party. Below is a copy of the adorable invitations I found that were written just like Nancy would write one. It asked that all the guests (kids) come dressed in their fanciest attire.

I arranged for Miss Nina, a paraprofessional at Sycamore, to design Morgan's cake. She did an amazing job. The bottom two layers were chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream. The top layer was a faux layer just for looks. It was an amazing, over the top, Nancy style cake, and was DELICIOUS!

We set up three "centers" in the house for the girls. The first was "Tiara Centrale Boutique", we made glitter tiaras to wear. Morgan's oldest cousin, Caity, took charge of helping run this center. She did a great job.

The other two centers were a photo shoot (this didn't work out quiet as well as we hoped) and Lavende Spa, where the girls got pedicures.

This was Morgan's gift from her Nanny and Pa. Isn't it adorable. JoAnne had a friend make a "pull-up" cake (since we are now using pull-ups instead of diapers). They then covered it with this adorable dress and added lots of "accessories" just like Nancy would do. It had a hat, socks, purse, clips, leggings, and a butterfly for her room. There was even a sock "cupcake" at the top with a number 3 candle in it. It was so great!

Morgan woke up from a great afternoon nap and was ready to get "Fancy" for her party!

Getting all dolled up. I made her a tutu to wear along with a white tank, hot pink leggings, two beaded necklaces, and a hot pink boa. Morgan liked to call her tutu her "tutu train."

Already to start partying. Morgan was just so excited to be dressed up and have her family there to celebrate her birthday.

Baby "Yuke" (aka Lucas) came dressed up fancy too. Georgia made him an adorable little tie to wear.

Morgan's Pa even dressed up for the occasion (although due to the heat of the day that didn't last long). You should have seen her face when she first spotted him. She was so excited! In the book Fancy Nancy there is a picture of the dad dressed up and every time we turn to that page she has always pointed to the dad and said "Pa." I am not sure why but she always does.

Nanny joined in the fun too.

Caity and Lindsey have two new puppies, Nash and Cameron, they brought them down for the day too. Morgan LOVED them. They were tiny and just her size so she enjoyed getting to scoop them up and hug them.

After the tiara's were done we headed to the "salon" to get our pedicures. We set that up in Morgan's playroom. We had three chairs and buckets of water set out. Caity then designed a menu for the girls with all their polish choices. It looked really cute!

Morgan loved soaking her feet and being pampered by her Nanny. She chose to have a glittery green polish both on her toes and finger nails. She also had Nanny add a flower sticker to her big toes.

Caity had brought her clarinet down with her. The morning of the party she found the notes online for "Happy Birthday" and quickly taught herself how to play. So we all sang along with Caity's clarinet. Morgan was smiling so big when we started singing.

Then with a little help from Daddy she blew out her candle. (We will try again tomorrow on her real birthday to let her do it on her own).

Morgan's friends, Maggie and Lindsey, pulled up chairs and helped Morgan open all her presents. She received so many great gifts including lots of new books, clothes, Guess Who, Polar Bear A-B-C game, some clothes for her Nancy doll, and two new babies for the bath: Ariel and Sleeping Beauty. As usual she was spoiled rotten by everyone who loves her.
